Background
Within the framework of the AgriTech Solutions project: Innovative VET for sustainable agriculture with r. number 2024-1-RS01-KA210-VET- 000244168, funded by the Erasmus + program of the European Union, the activity 3 2. Development of student projects
is being implemented.
The main objective of this project is to advance vocational education and training (VET) in sustainable agriculture through the introduction of project-based learning (PBL), focusing on sustainable and technologically advanced agricultural practices, inclusiveness and accessibility for all students.
This project strives to combine theoretical knowledge with practical applications, thus preparing students with the necessary skills to deal with contemporary agricultural challenges.
Aim of the activity
To apply the PBL methodologies learned in the training through the development of 10 different student-led projects focused on innovative solutions in agriculture.
Activities
Project Kickoff
Each of the 10 trained teachers guides their students in identifying real-world agricultural challenges and developing potential solutions, using their newly acquired PBL skills.
Project Development
Students, with ongoing support from their teachers, work on their projects, applying concepts of sustainable agriculture, precision agriculture, and technology in crop and soil management.
Mentoring and Support
During the project development phase, teachers act as mentors, providing guidance and feedback to ensure that the projects are impactful, feasible, and innovative.
Outcomes of the activity
Ten Innovative Agricultural Projects
A direct outcome is the development of 10 student-led projects, each addressing specific challenges in the agricultural sector. These projects incorporate sustainable practices, precision agriculture and digital technologies, demonstrating students’ ability to apply their learning to create solutions to real-world problems.
Increased student engagement and skills development
Students demonstrated increased engagement in their education, driven by the opportunity to work on meaningful real-world projects. Problem-solving skills, teamwork, project management and technical competencies specific to agriculture saw significant improvement.
Educator Mastery in PBL
The 10 educators who led the student projects strengthened their expertise in project-based learning methodologies. Their successful mentoring in this activity served as a practical application of their PBL training, enhancing their pedagogical skills and confidence in facilitating student-led learning.
Transnational cooperation and networking
The culminating event in Serbia, attended by stakeholders from both Serbia and North Macedonia, fostered transnational cooperation and networking. This gathering facilitated the exchange of ideas, best practices and potential partnerships between educators, industry professionals and policymakers.
Showcasing Innovations to Stakeholders
The presentation of student projects to a wider audience of stakeholders highlighted the innovative potential in the agricultural sector. This visibility can attract interest and support from industry and educational institutions.
