Within the framework of the AgriTech Solutions project: Innovative VET for sustainable agriculture with r. number 2024-1-RS01-KA210-VET-000244168, funded by the Erasmus + program of the European Union, the activity 2.3 PBL Teacher Training

The main objective of this project is to advance vocational education and training (VET) in sustainable agriculture through the introduction of project-based learning (PBL), focusing on sustainable and technologically advanced agricultural practices, inclusiveness and accessibility for all students.

This project aims to combine theoretical knowledge with practical applications, thus preparing students with the necessary skills to deal with contemporary agricultural challenges.

Training of 10 selected (5 per country) educators for vocational education and training with practical knowledge to effectively implement PBL in their classrooms. One of the main objectives of the project is to modernize agricultural vocational education and training by incorporating innovative teaching methodologies.

By training educators in Project-Based Learning (PBL), this activity ensures that teaching staff are well-equipped to deliver the updated curriculum in a way that is not only engaging but also reflects real-world agricultural practices. This practical, student-centered approach to learning is expected to significantly improve the quality of education and student outcomes.

Conducting five-day training sessions for VET educators. Educators will attend intensive training sessions emanating from the short program, engaging in interactive workshops and collaborative exercises.

The activity “Strengthening VET educators with experts in project-based learning” is strategically designed to directly contribute to the overarching objectives of the project:

One of the main objectives of the project is to modernize agricultural VET through the incorporation of innovative teaching methodologies.

By training educators in project-based learning (PBL), this activity ensures that teaching staff are well equipped to deliver the updated curriculum in a way that is not only engaging but also reflects agricultural real-world practices. This student-centered, hands-on approach to learning is expected to significantly improve the quality of education and student outcomes.

The project aims to instill sustainable agricultural practices and the use of precision agriculture technologies in students.

Through PBL training, educators will learn to design projects that integrate these key topics, directly exposing students to sustainable and technologically advanced agricultural practices. This experiential learning process is vital for embedding a deep understanding of sustainability and technology in the next generation of agricultural professionals.

By equipping VET educators with the skills to implement PBL, students are prepared for the workforce with practical skills, critical thinking abilities and a problem-solving mindset.

This aligns with the project’s goal to improve the employability of graduates by providing a curriculum closely linked to industry needs and trends, making students more adaptable and attractive to potential employers in the agricultural sector.

After the Training The teachers who were part of the training were tasked with working on:

1. Dissemination of the training to include teachers of vocational subjects in the school.

2. Mentoring for the development of 10 student-led projects. These projects address specific challenges in the agricultural sector.
